Color Of Change PAC Endorses Mary Moriarty for Hennepin County Attorney

Color Of Change PAC ramping up Black voter mobilization efforts to elect progressive candidates in Hennepin County

HENNEPIN COUNTY, Minn. — Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, endorsed Mary Moriarty for Hennepin County Attorney.

“Black communities in Hennepin County deserve a District Attorney who will be a tireless advocate in the fight for a fair and equitable justice system, and that is why Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse Mary Moriarty,” said Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson. “With a longstanding career as a public defender and commitment to ending the cycles of mass incarceration, Moriarty is the best candidate for County Attorney.”  

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. In addition to ending cycles of mass incarceration, Moriarty’s platform includes rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the community and responding to the nationwide increase in violent crime through identifying and addressing its underlying causes.

Color Of Change PAC plans to support Moriarty by building enthusiasm and mobilizing voters who are often left out during District Attorney races. The organization leads an education campaign that informs voters about the link between criminal justice reform and voting, and provides resources for people to get involved in their local District Attorney race. 

One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC has ramped up its digital tactics, and will host a variety of virtual events like Black Joy Socials, text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and town halls in response to the limitations COVID-19 has put on in-person advocacy and voter engagement. The organization also plans to send direct mail, launch GOTV email and SMS broadcasts, and deploy digital ads to reach and mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections.
