Statement from Rashad Robinson, Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson, On Trump’s Civil War Commentary

Following former-President Donald Trump’s comments that the Civil War could have been “negotiated” Color Of Change PAC released the following statement from, Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson, Rashad Robinson: 

“These latest remarks are in line with Donald Trump’s decades-long agenda to build his profile and his bank account off of racist words and actions. One only has to look at his record to deduce what side of any “civil war negotiation” he would have been on. His success over the years is a result of so many individuals and institutions in media, politics, and corporate America willing to enable and profit alongside him. It’s all part of the strategy — the clicks, views, and shares drive the bottom line, and the unregulated profit-driven algorithms, which amplify and expand his audience, fuel his platform, and make an insurrection like January 6th, 2021 possible.

These latest comments by the former President shouldn’t surprise any of us and the support (or implicit support through silence) from those in his party and in powerful positions in society, represents a major test for our democracy in 2024. Color Of Change will continue to hold these enablers accountable and we call on others with a platform to join us in fighting the industry of mis and dis information and voter suppression that Trump along with his supporters and enablers rely on.”
