In Alameda County, Color Of Change PAC Urges Voters to Stand for Public Safety and Vote No on the Recall Election facing District Attorney Price

OAKLAND- On April 15, the Alameda County Registrar of Voters announced it had received enough votes for a recall election for District Attorney Pamela Price, the first Black woman to serve in this role. In response, Color Of Change PAC released the following statement from Michael Collins, Senior Director of State and Local Government Affairs:

“I wish I could say this is shocking, but it is not. When a Black woman runs on a campaign that has the power to overhaul historic systems based on racism and classism, opponents of justice will always organize a bigoted response. The recall efforts facing DA Price began the very first day she stepped into office, and have been led by MAGA supporters since. There was no case prompting a recall, no flashpoint of community distress, and no controversy that kicked off these signatures. While this recall campaign targets DA Price, this is an all-out effort against meaningful reform in Alameda County. DA Price has been brave enough to hold hard commitments to her electoral promises, including introducing new programs for victim advocacy, protections for homeowners, and powerful juvenile precedents. For our members, for our partners, and for all people in Alameda who want real public safety, that is conscious of privilege and power imbalances in our criminal legal systems, we urge you to vote no in this recall effort. Color Of Change PAC stands with DA Price because we know that this recall is about the persecution of progressive policies, policies that are proven to make communities safer.”
