Color Of Change PAC: Georgia’s Election Results Signal Urgency on Voting Rights

GEORGIA – Following Brian Kemp’s re-election as Georgia’s Governor, Color Of Change PAC — the political action committee of the largest online racial justice group — released the below statement from Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson:

“Despite the steadfast efforts of Stacey Abrams and countless organizers, activists, and community members to defend democracy across the state — the election outcome in Georgia is a direct result of right wing elected officials and their corporate enablers who orchestrated a coordinated attack on Black voters through racist voter suppression legislation. Governor Kemp signed S.B. 202 into law in 2021 despite reaffirming the validity of the 2020 elections, underscoring the intentions of the bill.”

“Make no mistake: the state’s new voting restrictions target Black communities to prevent us from using our constitutional rights because they know the power of our vote. Ahead of election day, there were numerous accounts from Black voters in Georgia citing issues with the new laws and having their validity as voters challenged.”

“Regardless of who is in office, Color Of Change PAC and our members will keep fighting to protect voting rights and move the needle on other critical issues like public safety, reproductive justice, education, healthcare and more”

After endorsing Stacey Abrams in 2018, Color of Change PAC renewed its support for her gubernatorial ticket ahead of the 2022 midterms. 

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC ramped up its digital and direct mail tactics ahead of the 2022 election cycle.
