In Minnesota, Color Of Change PAC Endorses Keith Ellison for State Attorney General

After endorsing Ellison in 2018, Color of Change PAC renews support, ramps up Black voter mobilization efforts to elect progressive candidates in Minnesota

MINNESOTA — Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, endorsed Keith Ellison for State Attorney General of Minnesota for a second time. 

“Keith Ellison has been a tireless advocate in the fight for a fair and equitable Minnesota, and that is why Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse him for re-election as Attorney General,” said Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson. “Ellison is a demonstrated leader in justice reform, and as the lead prosecutor of the death of George Floyd, he worked around the clock to ensure the successful conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on a charge of second-degree murder. Keith Ellison is a long time champion for advancing protections and accountability for major corporations. Ellison held corporations accountable when he reached settlements with CenturyLink, Xfinity, and Frontier for improperly or fraudulently overbilling customers and other fraudulent practices, which put millions of dollars back in Minnesotans’ pockets. From holding major corporations accountable for consumer fraud, to fighting to lower pharmaceutical drug prices, Ellison’s record speaks for itself.”

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. Throughout his term as Minnesota’s Attorney General, Ellison has held opioid companies accountable for their role in the deadly opioid epidemic, protected tenants and student borrowers from exploitation and formed a task force on improving women’s economic security. 

Color Of Change PAC plans to support Ellison by building enthusiasm and mobilizing voters who are often left out. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC has ramped up its digital tactics, and will host a variety of virtual events like Black Joy Socials, text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and town halls in response to the limitations COVID-19 has put on in-person advocacy and voter engagement. The organization also plans to send direct mail, launch GOTV email and SMS broadcasts, and deploy digital ads to reach and mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections.
