Color Of Change PAC Celebrates Progressive Victories in Minnesota
Color Of Change PAC endorsed three candidates across Minnesota, including Keith Ellison for Attorney General and Representative Ilhan Omar for re-election to CD-5
MINNESOTA — Following a landmark midterm election cycle and progressive victories throughout the state of Minnesota, Color Of Change PAC — the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice organization — released the following statement from Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson:
“Democratic victories in Minnesota are a testament to the years-long work of grassroots organizing and unwavering determination of progressive voters across the state. Following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the racial justice uprisings in 2020, Black voters have been showing up to deliver key Democratic wins at all levels of government. Since then, Black communities have kept up the year-round work to protect our democracy and lay the groundwork for needed progress on critical issues like criminal justice reform, heightened police accountability, and redefining our police-only approach to public safety.
Not only are today’s results a win for Black communities and our allies who turned out to vote for candidates committed to delivering on our priorities, they also mark a significant victory for our members who have been mobilizing for months leading up to election day.
We congratulate Keith Ellison, Mary Moriarty, and Ilhan Omar for their victories and look forward to partnering with them once in office to champion robust policies that empower Black communities.”
In Minnesota, Color Of Change PAC endorsed the following candidates: Keith Ellison for Attorney General; Mary Moriarty for County Attorney; and Ilhan Omar for re-election to CD-5. Color Of Change PAC also endorsed candidates in California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
Over the last few months, Color Of Change PAC mobilized thousands of members and Black voters in Minnesota to turn out the vote and elect progressive candidates with comprehensive and progressive policies and reforms in their platform that support Black communities.
Here are a few of the statistics about Color Of Change PAC’s work to support Minnesota candidates:
- 129,435 calls/texts to voters
- 87,840 direct mail pieces sent to Black voters and members
- 100,664 emails sent
- 833,537 digital ad views
Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC ramped up its digital and direct mail tactics ahead of the 2022 election cycle.
