Statement from Jamarr Brown, Color Of Change PAC Executive Director, on the results of the 2024 presidential election
Color Of Change PAC is extremely disappointed to learn that Donald Trump will return to the White House. When we vote, we’re not just exercising our right to participate in democracy, we’re making a decision whose impact lasts longer than four years. Unfortunately, the impact of another Trump presidency will reverberate negatively for generations. Emboldened by a GOP-led Senate, potentially the House and the Courts, Trump and his extremist allies will work to erode our rights and our freedoms, this time empowered by the white supremacist manifesto Project 2025. From losing access to birth control, to removing protections from discrimination at work, to destroying LGBTQ+ rights and protections, and of course, allowing police officers freedom to kill Black and Brown communities without punishment – there are no marginalized groups that Project 2025 doesn’t hurt. Trump’s lies and sowing of distrust into the system has led to an electorate that has failed to see how this administration will harm them.
COC PAC worked hard to support progressive candidates this cycle, including reaching nearly 8 million voters through text and phone banking, digital outreach, live events and more. We thank our members for their tireless dedication to racial equity and building Black political power.
Our people will feel a range of emotions at this moment, but we will continue to mobilize Black voters and organizers and the movement to fight for real justice for Black people. We will do that by first ensuring that we continue to protect democracy and conducting free and fair elections, and from there continue to fight at the highest level of government to protect Black people from the dangerous attacks of this administration. We will fight against those who enable right-wing extremism to thrive, despite the depths of its harm. That includes taking on billionaire tech giants who have flooded our communities with election disinformation, as well as huge corporations that stand silently by while witnessing the erosion of democracy. We are committed to fighting harder than ever against the Project 2025-led policies of a Trump administration and against those in power who enable these policies that harm Black people to go unchecked for their personal gain.
