In North Carolina, Color Of Change PAC Endorses Cheri Beasley for Senator

After endorsing Beasley to keep seat on North Carolina Supreme Court in 2020, Color of Change PAC ramps up Black voter mobilization efforts to elect Cheri Beasley and flip the North Carolina Senate seat

NORTH CAROLINA — Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, endorsed Justice Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate.

“Black communities in North Carolina deserve a Senator who will be a tireless advocate, and that is why Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse Justice Cheri Beasley,” said Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson. “As a lifelong public servant dedicated to justice and safety, Beasley has worked together with law enforcement and educators to keep students in classrooms and out of the criminal justice system. As North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice, she ruled in favor of paid family leave to over 6,000 Court workers. Through her decisions, she earned a reputation as an independent, open-minded judge, a mentality she promises to bring to the Senate to deliver for North Carolina families who have been left behind.”

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to deliver real change for Black communities. Beasley is a former public defender, judge, and the first Black woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Her platform includes protecting voting rights, reforming the criminal justice system, making housing more affordable and defending gender equality and reproductive rights.

Color Of Change PAC plans to support Beasley by building enthusiasm and mobilizing voters who are often left out. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC has ramped up its digital tactics, and will host a variety of virtual events like Black Joy Socials, text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and town halls in response to the limitations COVID-19 has put on in-person advocacy and voter engagement. The organization also plans to send direct mail, launch GOTV email and SMS broadcasts, and deploy digital ads to reach and mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections.
