In Georgia, Color Of Change PAC Endorses Stacey Abrams for Governor, Charlie Bailey for Lt. Governor

After endorsing Abrams in 2018, Color of Change PAC renews support ahead of 2022 gubernatorial election

GEORGIA Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, endorsed Stacey Abrams for Governor and Charlie Bailey for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia.

“Black voters in Georgia turned out to vote in historic numbers for Stacey Abrams and Charlie Bailey in the 2018 gubernatorial race, and that momentum has only continued to build over the last four years,” said Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson. “Our communities deserve a Governor and Lieutenant Governor who will be tireless advocates in the fight for a fair and equitable Georgia, and that is why Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse Stacey Abrams and Charlie Bailey. Over the last four years, they never stopped organizing against Gov. Brian Kemp’s voter suppression efforts — and that determination is the exact energy we need to empower Black communities in Georgia and across the country.”

Stacey Abrams and Charlie Bailey previously ran for Georgia Governor and Attorney General, respectively, in 2018. Since then, Abrams founded the New Georgia Project and Fair Fight Action to shore up voting rights and defend democracy for all in Georgia. Abrams is running again alongside Bailey after he garnered nearly 50% of Georgians’ votes for Attorney General in an election plagued by voter suppression.

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. Abrams’ and Bailey’s platforms include funding the college need-based aid program, expanding Medicaid, protecting workers through ending wage theft and paid sick leave, reducing gun violence, combating the fundamental causes of violence and decriminalizing poverty.

Color Of Change PAC plans to support Abrams and Bailey by building enthusiasm and mobilizing voters who are often left out. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC has ramped up its digital tactics, and will host a variety of virtual events like Black Joy Socials, text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and town halls in response to the limitations COVID-19 has put on in-person advocacy and voter engagement. The organization also plans to send direct mail, launch GOTV email and SMS broadcasts, and deploy digital ads to reach and mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections.
