for Mayor of Los AngelesNovember 2022 Update: Congresswoman Karen Bass has become the first woman and second Black Angeleno elected to lead the city in its 241-year history.
Representative Karen Bass is a former community organizer and was the first Black woman to serve as Speaker of the California State Assembly. Throughout her career, Rep. Bass has consistently shown up for Californians on a wide range of issues, including securing hundreds of millions of dollars in COVID relief, passing legislation to make healthcare more accessible and affordable, and championed efforts to improve California’s child protection services. If elected, she would become the first Black woman to hold the office of LA Mayor.
As Mayor, Karen Bass will take action to:
- Address homelessness and end street encampments in Los Angeles.
- Improve public safety by tackling the root causes of crimes.
- Create economic opportunities so local businesses and workers can thrive.
