Jamaal Bowman
U.S. Rep. 16th District of NYJamaal Bowman (D) is a middle school principal and public school advocate running for New York’s 16th Congressional District. Through his work as an educator, he has seen firsthand how low-income families are locked out of opportunity by a system that’s rigged for the wealthy and privileged few.
Bowman is running on an progressive and expansive platform that includes innovative solutions to improve access to education, housing, and healthcare. Some policies Bowman has proposed include:
- Invest into opening thousands of community schools, increase teacher salaries, decriminalize school truancy, and guarantee free, universal school meals among other things.
- Invest in ending homelessness by setting aside thousands of low income housing units to house the homeless, and providing federal funding to offer supportive services to the homeless.
- Expand access to healthcare for all, including eliminating fees and lowering prescription drug costs.
- Move rapidly to 100% clean and renewable energy and repair and upgrade infrastructure.

Vote early to avoid lines and wait times at the polls. In person early voting begins Oct. 24. You can also cast a ballot safely and securely by voting by mail as soon as possible. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, any voter can request an absentee ballot. Election day polling locations will open on November 3 from 6 AM to 9 PM.
