Color Of Change PAC: We Will Hold Ted Budd Accountable to Black Voters
NORTH CAROLINA — In response to last night’s election results, Color Of Change PAC — the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice organization — released the following statement from Color Of Change PAC Spokesperson Rashad Robinson:
“As a former public defender and the first Black woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, Cheri Beasley has been a tireless advocate for Black communities across the state. She ran a fierce campaign that prioritized economic justice and affordable healthcare.
“We commend the steadfast efforts of Beasley and the countless organizers, activists, and community members to defend our democracy and build Black political power. These are long-term investments that will pay dividends for years to come, especially as Republicans take control of the North Carolina Supreme Court and we prepare for the 2024 presidential election.
“Regardless of who is in office, Color Of Change PAC and our members will keep organizing to redefine public safety, protect reproductive rights, eliminate student loan debt and address the housing crisis in North Carolina and across the country.”
Prior to her U.S. Senate endorsement, Color Of Change PAC endorsed Cheri Beasley in her historic 2019 campaign to become the first Black woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Over the last few months, Color Of Change PAC mobilized thousands of members and Black voters in North Carolina to turn out the vote and elect progressive candidates, like Cheri Beasley, with comprehensive and progressive policies and reforms in their platform that support Black communities.
Here are a few of the statistics about Color Of Change PAC’s voter engagement work in North Carolina:
- 42,721 calls/texts to voters
- 54,220 emails sent to voters
- 962,693 digital ad views
Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC ramped up its digital and direct mail tactics ahead of the 2022 election cycle.
