Color Of Change PAC Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Re-Election as Michigan’s Secretary of State

Color Of Change PAC ramping up Black voter mobilization efforts to elect progressive candidates across 2022 midterms

MICHIGAN— Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, endorsed Jocelyn Benson for re-election as Michigan’s Secretary of State.

“Jocelyn Benson has been a tireless advocate for a fair and free democracy, and that is why Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse her for re-election as Michigan’s Secretary of State,” said Color Of Change Spokesperson Rashad Robinson. “Especially as Michigan becomes a battleground in the fight against disinformation and voter suppression, it is critical that proven leaders like Benson are re-elected. Benson’s longstanding career in public service and advocacy has driven her work as Secretary of State, and she has lent her voice to testify before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee to protect local election workers from harassment and intimidation. That is the exact level of urgency we need to empower Black communities in Michigan and nationwide.”

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward. Throughout her term as Michigan’s Secretary of State, Benson has worked to protect our democracy and ensure fair elections. 

Color Of Change PAC plans to support Benson by building enthusiasm and mobilizing voters who are often left out. One of the first-ever political organizing groups to figure out how to reach and engage Black voters and its members online, Color Of Change PAC has ramped up its digital tactics, and will host a variety of virtual events like Black Joy Socials, text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and town halls in response to the limitations COVID-19 has put on in-person advocacy and voter engagement. The organization also plans to send direct mail, launch GOTV email and SMS broadcasts, and deploy digital ads to reach and mobilize voters ahead of the midterm elections.
