Ahead of 2024 Elections, Color Of Change PAC Announces Endorsements in Florida

Through our commitment to elect progressive candidates who will support Black communities, Color Of Change PAC endorses Monique Worrell and Andrew Warren

FLORIDA — Color Of Change PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest online racial justice group, announced its endorsement of Monique Worrell for Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney and Andrew Warren for Thirteenth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. Between now and Election Day, Color Of Change PAC will mobilize Florida’s Black voters to elect these reform-minded candidates focused on building racial equity for Black communities. Color Of Change PAC is also endorsing candidates in Georgia, California, Ohio and Texas.

“Color Of Change PAC is proud to endorse candidates who understand that engaging Black voters and fighting for racial justice isn’t just a one-off action on the campaign trail. Monique Worrell and Andrew Warren are working to build racial equity, and we will mobilize Black voters to support them,” said Color Of Change PAC Executive Director Jamarr Brown. “This cycle, the preservation of our democracy and the economic advancement of Black and other historically marginalized communities are top of mind. Both of those issues are impacted by the justice system. Prosecutors are the most powerful single actors in the criminal justice system, and support of reform-minded prosecutors is an investment in racial equity that touches many aspects of our lives.”

Since 2016, Color Of Change PAC has engaged hundreds of thousands of Black voters across the country, endorsing candidates who offer plans to help move Black people forward.

As the State Attorney, Worrell has led bold initiatives and has displayed a strong commitment to equity. She has spearheaded programs focused on dismantling systemic barriers to the legal system and enhancing community outreach efforts to push violent crime prevention efforts. Key accomplishments include forming a mental health unit  and proposing legislation to protect school-aged children from excessive force by law enforcement officers.

Warren has consistently worked to implement progressive initiatives throughout his career. He established a conviction review unit which led to the exoneration of Robert DuBoise who was imprisoned for 37 years. He is committed to justice, even in the face of opposition, such as when he prosecuted a megachurch pastor for violating COVID-19 lockdown requirements, a case that was heavily opposed by Governor Ron DeSantis. Later, DeSantis suspended Warren for signing a statement with other prosecutors opposing the prosecution of individuals who seek or provide abortions. Still, Warren will continue the fight to uphold reproductive and civil rights for all.

With renewed energy and excitement around the 2024 election, Color of Change PAC will support its endorsed candidates with voter engagement and mobilization, communicating the importance of both local and national elections to Black voters and conveying that voting for candidates focused on racial equity at the local level will empower candidates at the top of the ticket. Color Of Change PAC is one of the first political organizing groups to perfect the ability to reach and engage Black voters through actions like text and phone banking, virtual squad meetings and more. Color Of Change PAC will also utilize direct mail, digital ads, and email and SMS broadcasts.
